FAQ

Why should I choose Creating U Professional Acting and Modeling Academy?

Our professional acting and modeling instructors teach the true art and craft expected by top agencies, casting directors and managers.  Every class is extended over an 8-week period to give students more time to perfect their craft.  We teach students how to become marketable and provide the proper tools to begin working as an actor or model. We take deep pride in each and every student, and work to ensure that no one feels like just a number.  It is our goal to help our students find success in acting, modeling and life.

What if I do not wish to be an actor or model? Can I still take certain selected classes?

Absolutely!  The classes are actually designed to be beneficial to anyone.  Taking any of these classes will build confidence. Confidence breeds success in relationships, sports, careers and life.  Confident people are happy and successful because they are open to criticism and suggestions, resist peer pressure, are honest about their own abilities and limitations, learn from their mistakes, set realistic goals, and have realistic expectations, take personal responsibility for their fate, embrace new challenges, take reasonable risks, and are willing to work hard to achieve their goals.

How long are classes…weeks and time?

Each class meets once a week for 8 weeks.  Time length varies depending on the class.  Most of the classes range from 1 – 2 hours.  Classes are currently offered on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, or Saturday and Sunday during the day.

Can I take more than one class in an 8-week period?

Yes.  The schedule of classes allows students to take multiple classes each week.

Do talent agencies and casting directors come to the school?

Creating U has agencies that are excited and looking forward to meeting our future talent.  Agents, casting directors and managers will stop by from time to time to observe the students during class.

Once I am trained and ready, how do I seek representation and auditions?

Creating U gives you vital information on how to access auditions and submit to the best agents, managers and casting directors. Serious students may attend a highly acclaimed Graduate Showcase Event (IMTA), where they can meet and audition LIVE with top industry people for contract and casting opportunities.

What is IMTA?

IMTA stands for International Model and Talent Association, which holds events where worldwide major-market agents, managers, and casting directors come to find new faces. During competitions, seminars, and workshops, models and actors showcase their potential for industry professionals who can get their career started.  You must be represented by an IMTA Director in order to attend, and Creating U has a Director.  www.imta.com

Is there a registration fee or payment plan for the classes?

No, there is not a registration fee.  Payment plans vary depending on quantity of classes attending.

What should I wear to class?

For most of the classes you can dress however you are comfortable.  The instructor will inform you in advance if you will need to wear something specific on certain dates.

Do classes really make a difference?

ABSOLUTELY, and on both a personal and professional level.  Just because someone is charming, outgoing and comfortable around family and friends does not mean she or he is an actor.  Putting someone in an unfamiliar setting with unfamiliar people staring at them and then asking them to repeat lines, perform an action or pose over and over while still giving off all of their charm is very different and can be extremely difficult.  The classes are designed for students to overcome shyness, feel confident in themselves, be impressionable and have an understanding of what is expected of them.

What is the cost to attend Creating U?

Class fees vary and discounts are available for multiple classes and for siblings.  Please come to any of our open house registrations or call to set an appointment to discuss your interests.

How do I get started with Creating U?

You can get started 2 ways:

1)   Every other month we will have an Open House Registration for interested students to tour the school, learn more about the classes, meet instructors and receive additional discounts.

2)    If you cannot make a scheduled registration, simply email our school at creatingu@att.net and we will happily set up an office visit.

I am an adult ranging from 18 – 99 and am interested in acting or modeling but just assume I am too old for classes.  Is that true?

Absolutely not!  It is never too late to start your acting or modeling career.  The industry professionals need actors and models of ALL AGES on a regular basis.  In fact, the older you get the fewer people you have to compete against.

I am already an actor but heard that you should never stop taking classes.  Is this true?

Yes.  Even movie stars continue to take classes to improve and enhance their acting .  This is why we offer an Advanced Acting class, for those who want to continue improving their craft.

Who should take the Filmmaking or Script Writing Classes?

Anyone who is interested in the film making process.  These are excellent classes to see if filmmaking or script writing is something you would like to pursue.  It gives you the tools you need to break into the industry.  This is also a great class for actors to take.  Learning what goes on behind the scenes and how it works can be very beneficial.  Many actors are starting to write, film, edit and perform in their own productions.  The more well-rounded you are, the more you stand out.

Why should a student take the Life Skills and Etiquette class?

Most of us are taught basic manners and etiquette at home, as children, but the skills necessary in business settings – and particularly at fashion or film industry events – can be quite different.  Learning or re-learning basic etiquette is helpful for anyone, but for those seeking career skills in these fields this is particularly beneficial.  In addition, our teen students learn about dating and netiquette (computer and cell phone etiquette), while adult classes are more business-oriented.  This class is also designed to be lots of fun…especially for the kids and teens.
